PCR #108 - Stick 'Em With the Disappointy End
Monday Jun 03, 2019
Monday Jun 03, 2019
In this episode, Travis finally does an episode on Game of Thrones as he and X breakdown the controversial final season of the hit series. They discuss the ups and the many, many downs of the short season, and try to find out where it all went wrong. What happened in the big battle of Winterfell? How did all of the characters survive World War Z? Arya did what?! Why did they ruin Jaime's entire character arc? What the hell happened to Daenerys? She's Jon's queen! They discuss the anticlimactic ending and how nothing makes any sense. They wrap up by talking about some of the possible spin-offs we could be getting next. If you've seen the final season and got some opinions on it, hit the download button, listen to the ep, and shoot us a message with your thoughts over on our Facebook page. Enjoy!

PCR #107 - Whatever It Takes 3000
Tuesday May 07, 2019
Tuesday May 07, 2019
It truly is the endgame as Travis, Chris, and X assemble to talk all about Avengers: Endgame! They start off by talking about some of their favorite moments and scenes, discuss what they didn’t like about it, and then try to answer a lot of questions they each had after watching the epic conclusion to the Infinity Saga (Far From Home notwithstanding). Did they avoid getting spoiled before seeing the film? What was their favorite “Back to the Future” scenes? Is there such a thing as a “casual” MCU fan? Was there too much female empowerment? Did they fix the Captain Marvel problem? Were the changes to Hulk and Thor for the better or worse? How great was Hawkeye’s hair? Does this movie get time travel right or not and was it cheap way to undo what happened in Infinity War? What’s the one scene in Infinity War that X has to fast forward past? Did Chris find a big plot hole that could’ve prevented a lot of things from happening? How did they feel about Old Man Rogers, who he passes the shield down to, and does the end contradict their own rules of time travel? What was the one thing that X wanted to see in that scene? Do longer movies mean better movies? What was the one thing that Chris knew that no one else who saw the movie knew? What actually happened to Gamora? How exactly does Cap return all the stones? Is there a silver lining from the first snap that this movie ignores? Where does the MCU go from here? Does the MCU take claim to being the greatest movie franchise ever? If you’ve seen Endgame, then hit the download button, check it out, and let us know what YOU thought of the film as well!

PCR #106 - Marvelous Mr. Marvel!
Tuesday Apr 30, 2019
Tuesday Apr 30, 2019
In this episode, Travis and Chris decided to give everyone time to watch & digest Endgame before doing an episode on it, so instead they review that *OTHER* Captain Marvel movie, Shazam! They talk about their reactions to the film, how Zachary Levi did as the titular character, Billy searching for his mother, the similarities to the comics, the things that were kept away from the trailers, ties to the DCEU including that one cameo appearance, and much more. Also, is Aquaman a TV star in this movie?
Before all that, Travis gives an update on his thoughts on the DC Universe app, if he still recommends it, and the production news involving Swamp Thing. There might even be a review of Justice League Vs Fatal Five hidden somewhere in the ep as well.
They also announce that they will be at this years’ Comicpalooza and will be doing another live recording! They will need some fan participation, so be sure to come out and be a part of the show on May 11th in Houston.

In this episode, Travis, Chris, and Jeff (joining us from the Deep in the Horror of Texas podcast) give their thoughts and review on AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR! They get spoiler heavy, so if you’re the one person who hasn’t seen it yet, you may want to do so before listening. They break down the movie scene by scene and discuss the ins and outs of how everything has been building towards this film and what works and what doesn't work. They go off on some tangents here and there, including one talking about what’s going on with Fox and if/when the Fantastic Four will get involved at some point. Which character stood out the most to us? What emotions were we going through as soon as the movie ended? Why is Chris siding with Thanos?!

PCR #105 - Highway to Hellboy
Friday Apr 12, 2019
Friday Apr 12, 2019
In this episode, Travis and X put the spotlight on Guillermo Del Toro and Ron Perlman as they take a look back at the Hellboy movie franchise. They start off by going over how Del Toro got his start in Hollywood, his films leading up to the first Hellboy, the passion and patience he had for getting the movie off the ground, how he helped out Perlman with his early career and the friendship formed from it. They go into detail with the first film, discuss the characters, the actors, the makeup and visuals, and what went wrong with the plot of the film. They even bring up the animated films that came out in between the two films which included the original cast members. You can’t talk about guillermo without talking about Pan’s Labyrinth, so of course they do. They deep dive into the much beloved Hellboy sequel, the Golden Army, and talk about all the wonderful visuals and settings that Del Toro came up with throughout the film, the new characters introduced, the story elements that worked so well, and what was the unforeseen circumstance that caused it to fail at the box office. What were the plans for Hellboy 3 and why didn’t it ever get the greenlight. They wrap up by talking about their thoughts on what they’ve seen so far for the new movie and what they’re anticipations are for it. If you’re a fan of Del Toro, Ron Perlman, or the older Hellboy film franchise, then you don’t want to miss out on this one. Hit the download button and enjoy!

PCR #104 - The Marvelous Ms. Marvel
Monday Mar 25, 2019
Monday Mar 25, 2019
In this episode, Travis and X talk all about Captain Marvel. This episode contains a bunch of spoilers, so fair warning if you haven’t seen the latest addition to the MCU. They start off by talking about just who is Captain Marvel, aka Ms. Marvel, aka Carol Danvers and how they were first introduced to the character. Before getting into the movie, they talk a little about the controversial comments made by Brie Larson before the movie even came out and how that affected the perception of the film going into it. They then go through the talking points of the film, and talk about the cast, the characters, the plot points, how it all connects to the bigger MCU picture, and also get into a bit of a talking point about how the film handled the Skrulls. How was Brie Larson as Captain Marvel? Did it bring the film down for them? What did they think of this version of Nick Fury? Was it de-aging or just good makeup? How did the 90s setting impact the movie, and was it too much? What did the story remind Travis of? How will she be integrated into the upcoming Avengers Endgame movie? Is she ready to be the “face” of the MCU going forward? Does she need more solo sequels? How could Marvel use Captain Marvel to introduce the X-Men into the MCU? They end the review by doing some dream-casting for Captain Marvel. They wrap up by talking some recent news on James Gunn coming back for Guardians 3, as well as the news that the big Fox/Disney deal is officially done and with that which characters they are most excited to see introduced to the MCU first. Xavier has a great idea for Hugh Jackman, and it’s not what you think. This was a fun episode, so hit the download button and enjoy!

PCR #103 - A Glutton for Punisher
Tuesday Feb 26, 2019
Tuesday Feb 26, 2019
War Journal entry #103. With the recent announcement that Netflix officially cancelled The Punisher, Travis and Xavier take a look back at all of the live action versions of Frank Castle aka The Punisher. They start off by taking a minute to look back at how they were first introduced to the character in the comic books back in the day growing up. They then give their thoughts on the first 1989 movie, the 2004 John Travolta film, and the crazy 2008 cult flick, War Zone. They look at why Dolph was missing the skull & was it really hiding in plain sight the whole time, what could have made Lundgren’s Punisher even better, what was up with those crazy opening credits of the 89 flick, what took so long to make a new movie, why does the 2004 film not work, what was the best tweak to his origin from that movie, did the Punisher actually sign a lease agreement?! Also, does a t-shirt actually ward off evil spirits, why is Punisher not killing anybody, how many bombs does it take to form a giant skull explosion, what change was made to the Marvel logo at the start of War Zone, how crazy was that opening scene, how over-the-top was everything else in that flick, what happens to people who parkour near the Punisher?
After recapping the films, they rank the movies and the actors who portrayed him. Who is the most "true-to-form" Punisher? Which movie was the best? Which movie is the worst and why is it the 2004 one?
They then discuss the Netflix Punisher series by trying to remember what happened in season 1 before going into what worked and what didn’t work in season 2. What mistake was made between Daredevil season 2 to Punisher season 1? Can we get past what made Castle turn into Punisher? Why is Jigsaw still a pretty boy? Did they end up cramming two seasons into one with the last season? Does Jon Bernthal channel Shane from Walking Dead while he’s playing Castle? How does Bernthal stack up next to the other live action Punishers? How would they want to see Castle be introduced into the MCU and with who? Hit that download button and enjoy!

Monday Feb 11, 2019
Monday Feb 11, 2019
In this episode, it’s all DC as Travis gives his thoughts on the new DC Universe streaming app as well as doing an in-depth recap of the annual crossover event from the CW DC shows. Was Elseworlds all it was cracked up to be? What was the best thing from it? What was the most frustrating? Did he give up trying to watch it halfway through? He then talks about when he decided to sign up for the streaming app, what problems he add once he did sign up, how well did the app perform, and some of the content that can be watched. What’s his one complaint about it? How good is the comic reader part of it? He then gives his overall thoughts on the original live action series Titans, what worked, what didn’t work, and if he would recommend it to anyone. Young Justice is also back on the app, but does it live up to the hype? He wraps up by giving an up-to-date listing of all the movies, TV shows, and cartoons that are available on the app right now. If you’re a DC Comics fan then definitely give this one a listen!

Tuesday Jan 29, 2019
It’s not too late for a 2018 year in review, is it? Travis and Chris finally sit down to discuss some of the movies and TV shows they’ve seen throughout the year. Is it too little, too late for the Walking Dead? What exactly went down between Netflix and Marvel/Disney to bring that experiment to an end? How does Travis prefer getting new content on streaming services? Full binge or one at a time? What did Travis want to see happen in Agents of SHIELD? What’s the problem with some of the comic book based TV shows right now? What made Travis accept Gotham for what it is? What were his favorite shows of the year? They countdown a top 10 list of the films including some honorable mentions from everyone. What was the most memorable ghost? What was the scariest? Which ones gave them goosebumps? How does everything tie back to Haunting of Hill House? Will Nathan ever get his microphone working?? This is a crazy episode that goes off the rails a few times but a great time was had! PCR #97 - Jurassic Rewind: Fallen Franchise
Tuesday Oct 16, 2018
Tuesday Oct 16, 2018
In this episode, Travis is joined by a special returning co-host so they can breakdown the latest film in the Jurassic Park franchise, Fallen Kingdom! There were several flaws throughout the movie and they’re here to pick them all apart. They spend a little time talking about the previous films and the successes of each one, then do a breakdown of Fallen Kingdom starting with an overly complicated opening sequence, a ripped off title card, a gratuitous cameo, returning characters who act completely different from the last movie, useless sidekicks, predictably bad villains, lazy plots we’ve seen before, a terrible attempt at nostalgia feels, a lame subplot, an even more overly complicated scheme by the villains, trying to figure out how manly Chris Pratt’s character is, finding out dinosaurs have emotions, raptors who know how to do dramatic saves, and an ending that doesn’t bode well for mankind. So if you’ve seen Fallen Kingdom and had some questions, if you’ve liked it, or if you hated it, this is the episode for you.

PCR #96 - Transformers: More Than Meets the Movie
Thursday Oct 04, 2018
Thursday Oct 04, 2018
The 1986 animated classic, Transformers: The Movie, was released for one day only and Travis and Chris were out in full force to watch it! In this episode, they talk about how this showing came to be, when they got their tickets, getting some freebies, the special features that played before and after the movie, how the video, audio, and how the overall presentation was. What was the best moment or scene to them, and what got the best reactions from the other moviegoers? What was awkward about the post-movie feature? They also talk about the upcoming Bumblebee movie by breaking down that awesome trailer that was just released showcasing a more nostalgic take on the live action franchise. Where does the franchise go from here? There are some new G1 classic toys that are starting to pop up, which ones and are they buying them? Find out how many versions of Transformers: The Movie does Travis own? Find out in this fun little episode!

PCR #95 - Conventions: From Comics to Chaos
Monday Sep 24, 2018
Monday Sep 24, 2018
In this episode, Travis and Chris talk about how comic cons have evolved over the years but go off the rails a few times as they take on some news on the future of the X-Men and the MCU, the new Captain Marvel trailer thoughts and anticipations for the movie, Henry Cavill is out as Superman and what’s next for DC, and thoughts on the new Joker movie. Travis has something to say about the upcoming She-Ra Netflix series and wonders if it will be connected to a bigger universe. They give some rapid-fire reviews for Iron Fist season 2, Peppermint, The Nun, and the Predator. What movie did Chris love in the 90s? What are a couple 90s movies that have the worst special effects? Travis finally saw Won’t You Be My Neighbor, what was his criticism of it? They then talk about going to watch the one-time screening of Transformers: The Movie which quickly diverted into a wild rant of irritating movie theater pet peeves.
Travis went to the Fandemic Tour over the weekend and gives his thoughts on his visit and what his main reason for going was. This gets him going on his thoughts on professional Photo Ops versus getting autographs. What did he say to a guest celebrity? They go off the rails again as they discuss the rare collectible he found at the con that he couldn’t pass up.
Travis remembers his very first comic con experience from the late 80s. Did he even know what a comic convention was at that time? What was his find there?
He then discusses what he calls the “Hotel ballroom” comic conventions era from the mid-90s and why that was a special time.
From there it’s the Wizard World cons which was the early days of the “big” cons we see nowadays, and what aspects from this time he wishes would come back. There was a break after that when he got back into comic cons around 2009. What was different this time around and how has it affected every con to this day?
What is Chris’ suggestion for Travis? Is Travis a hypocrite for paying for photo ops? What does he want to see change in the future for the con scene?
They wrap up with talk about the upcoming Playstation Classic and online services for the Nintendo Switch and DC Universe.
